RSLogix Standard

The class is an introduction to Programmable Controls using the Allen Bradley SLC platform from a Maintenance Troubleshooters perspective.

The SLC platform, being somewhat more simple than the more advanced platforms allows students to concentrate on the basic bit or Boolean instructions and then progresses through word manipulation instructions like Timers, Counters, Moves, Compares and simple math functions. While some simple programming is used to get students familiar with Scan principles of the processor, the emphasis is on reading and understanding what is happening in a program that is already controlling devices and using the program as a troubleshooting tool.

Tools used by Maintenance Troubleshooting Personnel are introduced including the Cross Reference tool for Navigation through existing programs and the Trending tool for monitoring the status of I/O and data within the program. The class is an excellent introduction to the more advanced platform – ControlLogix.

This class is a follow up to the RSLogix 500 class utilizing the more modern and powerful ControlLogix platform.

Like the previous class it emphasizes the Maintenance Troubleshooting perspective of using the navigational tools and diagnostic tools of the ControlLogix platform to find the conditions that prevent machine operation. The class requires some programming but only to the extent of understanding the Ladder Instruction operation. Most of the class time is spent on reading and understanding what is happening in a pre-loaded program, navigating through those programs using the cross reference tool, trending both internal bits and I/O, and making adjustments which enable the simulated process to begin working.
