Canning 101

Join us for a hands-on canning class designed to help you feel confident and capable in your food preservation journey. Whether you’re new to canning or looking to refresh your skills, this course covers the fundamentals you need to know:

  • Pressure Canning vs. Water Bath: Understand the differences and when to use each method.
  • Easy Recipes: Start with simple, delicious recipes—including homemade salsa!
  • Must-Have Tools & Resources: Discover essential equipment, helpful books, and trusted guides.
  • Jar Types Explained: Learn the pros and cons of wide mouth vs. regular jars.

Beyond the basics, we’ll explore the deeper value of canning—how it supports homesteading, helps you build a food supply for emergencies, and benefits your family’s health and self-sufficiency. By the end of the class, you’ll leave with a jar of salsa and the confidence to continue canning at home.

Class is free for all FFA leaders and students in the Central Tech district.
