Students from Central Tech’s Network Security & Administration class on the Drumright campus were celebrated for their outstanding achievements in the Oklahoma Cup and CyberPatriot competitions at an awards ceremony on Thursday, March 27th.
One team of five students clinched 2nd place in the CyberPatriot Open Division (high school) at the state level and 3rd place in the Oklahoma Cup High School category. Another team of six students secured 2nd place in the Oklahoma Cup Adult category.
The Oklahoma Cup, held remotely from October to December, is a free and exclusive competition that provides teams with additional challenges and practice in the cybersecurity industry. Throughout each round, teams tackle deficiencies, enhance security settings, clean malware, and respond to forensic queries. All Oklahoma teams with a coach are eligible, including adult students who do not qualify for CyberPatriot.
CyberPatriot is a national competition dedicated to educating youth in cyber defense from grades 6-12, guiding them towards careers in cybersecurity. Competitions are held remotely from October to March, culminating in in-person nationals. Participants gain hands-on experience in cyber challenges, learning about network vulnerabilities and practicing cybersecurity principles. CyberPatriot offers students invaluable knowledge and skills to prepare for future careers.
Congratulations to all the students for their remarkable success and dedication!
