The weather on Monday, September 22 was perfect for a day on the links. The Eighth Annual Central Tech Foundation Ron Vandever Memorial Golf Tournament, held at the Cushing Country Club, brought out 145 golfers to help raise money for the Central Tech Foundation.

 

SpiritBank and Service King Manufacturing sponsored this year’s tournament, with a great response from 44 business and community sponsors at the platinum, gold, silver and bronze levels.

 

Through the tournament, the Central Tech Foundation raised nearly $27,500, a record-breaking amount, to assist needy Central Tech students as they prepare for technical careers. Last year, the foundation was able to provide financial assistance to 58 students from 15 local communities.

 

This year the tournament was spread out over the morning and afternoon, with two flights of golfers in each round.

 

In the morning A Flight, the Community Bank team of Dave Roberts, Jay Krumme, Dr. Zeddie Cantrell and Tyler Sullivan won with a score of 54. JLT Contracting placed second after a tiebreaker with a score of 54 by team members Tammy Wasson, Russell Moyer, Scott House and Jennifer Snow.

 

In the morning B Flight, the Hausner’s team of Richard Rhodd, Carl West, JL McGuire and Dennis Peck placed first with a score of 61. Second place in the morning B Flight was Alloy Welding with a score of 62 by team members Mike Kerby, JT Collins, Larry Nagel and Robert Chrisco.

 

In the afternoon A Flight, Team Stromme with players Richard Stromme, Charles Carroll, Mike Dennis and Zach Enzbrenner placed 1st with a score of 53. Second place in the afternoon A Flight was the BancFirst team with Alan Geiger, Harvey Robinson, Danny Hickman and Terry Franklin with a score of 54.

 

In the afternoon B flight, winners SpiritBank 1 with members Peter Kelly, Rick Harper, Greg Caldwell and Austin Elsey scored a 59. B&C Business Products with teammates Keith Disney, Walt Disney, Chancey Williams and Glenn Rose with a score of 60 placing 2nd.

 

Winners of the closest to the pin challenges on hole two in the morning were Tammy Wasson of the JLT Contracting team and Jay Krumme of the Community Bank team. In the afternoon winners of closest to the pin on hole two were Carol Colwell and Don Roberts of the Autry Team.

 

On hole 11 in the morning, the winners of the closest to the pin challenge were Jennifer Snow of the JLT Contracting team and Gary Davis of the Tidewater Winery team. In the afternoon, the winners of closest to the pin on hole 11 were Ashley Vandever of Ron’s Duffer’s and Dick Womack of Team Womack.

 

The straight drive winners on hole nine were Charles Carroll of the Tarr-Shaw team in the morning and Terry Winterbottom of the Plains 1 team and Roy Easley of Team Easley in the afternoon.
