April 26-30, 2023, Central Tech attended the National Leadership Conference for Business Professionals of America (BPA), April 26-30, 2023, in Anaheim, CA.
Central Tech’s Business & Information Technology students displayed exceptional skills, bringing home a first-place individual and a second-place team medal. Trent Fine, postsecondary student from Stroud, received first place in the Presentation Individual category, the National Postsecondary Recruiter of the Year award, and National Voting Delegates for Oklahoma (Postsecondary). Katy Knapp from Cleveland, Andrew Wyre from K12, Dezirae White from Cushing, and Aliviah Jolly from Mannford placed second in Parliamentary Procedure Team (Secondary).
As a group, the chapter received several awards, including the Ambassador Torch Awards, numerous BPA Cares National Chapter Awards, and National Voting Delegates for Oklahoma (Secondary). In addition, Maggie Battles from Ripley and Aspen Nelson from Hominy will hold state officer positions.
As a leading Career Technical Student Organization (CTSO) in the nation, BPA offers students a unique chance to gain valuable skills and forge important connections. Membership in BPA opens doors to a variety of engaging learning tracks which help students enhance their core knowledge and prepare for success in today’s competitive business landscape. By joining BPA, students can pursue careers in fields such as Business Administration, Finance & Accounting, Human Resources, and Small Business Entrepreneurship.

Central Tech students and teachers earned national recognition on May 13th in the Business Professionals of America National Leadership Conference in Dallas. During the four-day conference, students attended educational seminars and workshops, elected national student officers and participated in many other activities.
This year, four students from the Drumright and Sapulpa campuses placed in their national competition categories. Kelsea Boydston and Sophia Martin earned the top award in the Global Marketing Team category.
In addition to student recognition, Athena Frank, the Business Information Technology instructor on the Drumright campus was elected to the BPA National Board of Trustees. Students from Central Tech’s Drumright and Sapulpa campuses earned 18 team and individual awards in the Business Professionals of America (BPA) state competition on March 14 in Tulsa, OK. Among those 18 awards, four teams and five individuals placed first, moving them on to the BPA national competition later this year. Students competed in parliamentary procedures, financial analysis, global marketing, advanced spreadsheet, financial management and accounting categories against students from all over the state.
In addition to competition awards, Central Tech and students earned individual and chapter awards, including four statesman torch awards, the highest state individual student recognition, six BPA Cares chapter awards, and one BPA State Merit Scholar award (one of only two in the state) for Jeri Dodson from Yale high school.
On the national level, Central Tech students were recognized at this year’s state contest for their 2017 national achievements, taking home three top-ten team awards and four top-40 individual awards. Tiffany Windholz from Cleveland also earned an Ambassador Torch Award in the high school category and Annette Kissler earned an Ambassador Torch Award in the adult category. Ashley Thompson from Sapulpa also earned an Ambassador Torch award. Overall, Central Tech placed in seven BPA Cares chapter award categories.
